The person who started six months ago will always beat the one who has just found the “perfect” niche.
A lot of people fail in blogging because they choose the wrong topic. Yes, there are wrong niches and I am going to help you come up with a good if not the best niche for you.

How to Choose a Profitable Niche When you want to Start a Blog
This stage consists of five processes and it’s very important not to skip this!
1. Make a List of All Your Interests:
What is it that you are most enthusiastic about? Consider all of your interests; whether or not you believe they will make a good blog post, you must include them on the list.
At this level, we are just speculating on all the possibilities right now.
The truth is that some of your niche ideas may be too broad right now, but don’t fret.
When you look at your list, you will notice that there are a set of things that you are more enthusiastic about it than others.
There are probably a handful of them on the list that, if given the opportunity, you could talk about it all day without running out of words.
It could also be a great blog niche.
If you located one in your list, you can circle it for the time being.
2. Compile a List of Previous Jobs, Hobbies, and Experiences
You may have worked in or are presently working in a specific career.
Make a note of that. What are your own interests in this situation?
Gardening could be your hobby. You may enjoy playing the guitar or becoming a member of several sports teams. Make a list of them all.
Your profession or pastime may not be a good fit for a blog post topic; yet, you may uncover a common thread connecting numerous elements of your life and wish to write about it.
A creative blog niche can be a terrific fit for you if you’re an ad agency, designer, orchestra performer, or devotee of sketching and painting.

It’s likely that you have a wide range of interests, or that all of your reading focuses on a single broad topic (such as “Career Development”), which could help you narrow down your blog topic.
4. Make a List of Major Projects you’ve Completed
Most successful blogs are built on how to do something. They are all made of tutorials and guidelines. if you know how to do something and can teach, please share.
A single mother in a kitchen, for example, teaches this generation how to prepare traditional foods is a blog, or the Chairman General may be showing people how to blend colors for room design so that their ancient house appears new is also a blog.
There are no boundaries.

5. Review a List of Popular Subjects
If you haven’t found a niche yet, you’ll need to employ this procedure.
I’m assuming you’ve already compiled a list of at least two outstanding blog topics, but if not, you’ll need this last strategy to help you decide.
This technique will require a significant amount of effort because it suggests that you have no passion, interest, or skill to share or write about with others and that you must learn and contribute as you go.
You should conduct some research on the following topics:
- Personal finance investigation. (How to make money)
- Generic way of doing something (Eg. How to Create a Website)
- Personal Development (How to Change career at 40)
- Health and Wellness (eg. How to lose weight)
The list above will give you tons of possible topics to choose from. These are the generic topic anybody can master and teach. Don’t just pick something and call it your niche because there’s a market for it.
You should be enthusiastic about the niche. It should resonate with you otherwise you will fail.
4 Ways to Identify a Profitable Niche
You managed to pick a blog topic from the above process but we need to know if it’s profitable.
Your interest and experience alone are not enough to make money with a niche blog. Unless you are blogging for a hobby. I teach how to make money with a blog. haha.
1. Is your Niche Evergreen?
An evergreen niche is one that is unlikely to become obsolete anytime soon. Any topic that has the potential to stay in a discussion boardroom for the next 5 years is likely to stay active in the market as well.
How do you tell what’s evergreen and what isn’t?
The use of Google Trends and common sense will help you identify that.
Enter your topic into Google Trends to watch how the graph evolves over time. If it’s expanding, that’s fantastic! It’s fine if it drops a tad bit over time. If you see a lot of ups and downs, you should probably avoid it.
Let’s compare two common niches with Google Trends
Compact Disc and Mattress.
Compact Discs are practically obsolete in today’s technology and, as a result, are no longer relevant in the market. People are still buying them, but the market will continue to decline until it is absolutely gone.
Here’s an example of an evergreen niche — one that will never die compares mattresses. Upon all the technologies we will still sleep on mattresses… haha
We all require sleep, which necessitates the use of a suitable mattress. Mattresses are unlikely to be replaced by new technology in the next 20-30 years, thus we can safely term our niche evergreen.
2. Does This Niche Have Products and What is The Price Range?
Imagine choosing a niche that sells $5 Phone cases, we would need to sell 2,500+ cases every month to make a thousand dollars.
As a newbie, selling that much volume is exceedingly tough and would be a waste of your time.
A good niche should have three variations of products
a) Entry-level Products and accessories priced between $50 and $100.
b) The bulk of its products range in price from $100 to $300.
b) Some high-end options cost $500 or more.
This makes it quite convenient for every visitor to get something out.
3. How Popular is This Niche?
It’s depressing to start a new business only to discover that the venture’s potential is only a few hundred dollars each month.
We’ll go more into the figures later, but there’s a simple technique I use to pre-qualify niches.
If you check from market places like Amazon, the popular niche must have 20 goods on Amazon, each with at least 50 reviews.
For smaller niches, read through the first 5 pages and if there are at least 20 goods with 50 reviews – you’re good to go.
4. How Broad is This Niche?
We want to build a genuine internet business, not just make quick cash.
If you restrict yourself to a specialty such as “iPhone 10 reviews,” you will shortly hit your boundaries and be compelled to start a new business.
Instead, you would design your website around the smart phones niche, with iPhone 10 reviews included in one blog post (4G Smart Phones ) and other pieces focusing on that and other phones in that niche.
You can pause here and take a piece of paper and make a list of your interests, hobbies, and passions and begin identifying goods in that area.

Popular blog topics include health and wellness, celebrity news, DIY Blogs, Sports Focused Blogs, Finance Related Blogs, Blogs about Politics, Travel Blogging, Car and Automobile Blogs.
None of these probably may interest you. A blog topic is about what interests you and feels like talking about it all the time.
You cannot just pick anything as your niche or just because you think you can write something about it as a topic.
One of the reasons why people fail in blogging is that they find it difficult to generate blog posts. You must pick a niche that naturally resonates with your interest.
The whole blog success rests on your content and it’s all about how you are able to deliver good content. You should pick a topic that resonates with you and find it much easier to write about.
Topics such as travel, cuisine, fashion, lifestyle, technology, and others are examples. The topic will identify you and your blog so it’s best if you can incorporate a word or two into the name of your blog. For example CookwithSally.com or travelwithKay.com
Summary of Choosing a Niche for your Blog: 8 Simple Steps:
- Make a list of all the things that interest you and make you want to discuss them. There are no limitations; you may put any personal or professional interests on this list.
- Consider all that you like to do in your spare time. For instance, do you like playing the piano, guitar, or probably you fancy smartphones and that you like knowing what’s new in the market.
- Consider what you want to study, do, or will like to have in life. eg, you want to learn computer programming or you like researching health, or you like attending programs that teach you how to become an entrepreneur.
- Finally, make a list of things you will want to do.
- Brainstorm on any of these lists where you can share, what you know and what you want to learn and share with others.
- Make sure these topics have a common interest with people. I mean others may have an interest to learn from you. For example, you are a technology inclined person who knows a lot about phones, in that case, you can pick a topic and write a whole book about mobile phones.
- Does the topic have a product or service that you can sell or promote on your blog? The best is if your topic has a product or a service.
- You should also make sure that your topic is evergreen, which means you will always have something to talk about for the next ten to twenty 20 years
Locate Your Interest Group (Audience)
After you choose a topic, Do further probing into it to know if it’s a successful topic.
- Does your topic have a Facebook page with more than 10k fans?
- Check Twitter if you can find anyone on this topic who have more than 50k followers
- Does Amazon have any books or products with more than 30 reviews on this topic?
- When you search for words and phrases related to this topic, are there any Google ads?
- Do any words or phrases related to this topic have more than 100k searches in the month in Google?
It is very important to check these before making up your mind on the niche. Some topics may leave you with no products to post in the next few months or years to come and you don’t want that.
Don’t settle on a topic that will leave you with nothing to write about in the next 2 years.
You should have something to talk about every day with your Niche.
Step 2: Choose a Domain Name (Label Your Site)
At this level, you have to pick a name and where you will host your website.
The name is important because people will identify you online. This is a unique name that is going to identify your blog from the rest on the internet.
How to Choose the BEST Domain Name
When it comes to domain names, the majority of people who start an internet business make one error.
Someone selected something corny, uninteresting, and fraudulent, like; “bestsmartphone2016.com.”
We are building a genuine online business, a possible generational business, not a one-off specialty site. That is how we must approach it.
As a result, we must design and come out with a unique easy to identify the brand. A one-of-a-kind name that everyone will remember.

The final rule is the most significant. Sure, your domain name is important, but it won’t have as big of an impact on your blog unless you violate the other guidelines so don’t overthink it.
Give it at least 30 minutes of contemplation before making a choice.
Simply enter terms relating to your niche into the tool, and they will provide you with a lot of unique names.

There are many CMS platforms both free and paid you can try your strength with but since this guide aims to show you how to make money with your blog, I wouldn’t advise you to take those freeways.

Now that we’ve completed the critical setup portion of launching a blog, it’s time to have some fun.

Plus, I don’t want the light bonded technicalities of beginning a blog to disrupt your success today.

Yes, a couple of years ago all you needed was to get your post online and optimize for search engines but currently, you may have to consider the design as important as your readers will opt for it.
Everybody looks for perfection in everything now and that affects people’s choices as well.

Furthermore, due to a psychological bias known as the Halo Effect, individuals will extend that judgment to all parts of your blog.
That goes to say that a well-designed blog builds trust. It shows that you care about your blog enough to make it appear beautiful. This does not imply that you must use wild animations or a lot of flashy fonts and colors.

How to Install WordPress Themes
To install a WordPress theme, follow these steps from your WordPress dashboard:
- In the left-hand navigation pane, go to Appearance
- Choose Themes
Click the Add New button
There are two ways of installing a theme in WordPress and I will show you the two.
Method 1: Install a New Theme From WordPress.org Directory
>Go to Your WordPress dashboard
>>Go to Appearance
>>>You choose a theme
And then enter the name of the theme you want to install.
Enter a theme name or the desired feature (Example: “Hiero”) in the Search themes… field
and wait for the installation to complete.
Method #2: Install a Thirty-Party WordPress Theme
If you want to install a WordPress theme you downloaded it from a third-party website.
> Go to Your WordPress dashboard
>>Go to Appearance
>>>You choose a theme
>>>>Click the Upload Theme button and:
>>>>>Click the Choose File button
Find the third-party theme you downloaded to your computer (Example: premium-theme.zip) and select it

Whether you choose a free theme or a premium theme, you’ll “activate” it the same way.

How to Activate a WordPress Theme
Immediately after installing your WordPress theme, you’ll be given the option to “Activate” or “Preview” it.
If you want to immediately publish the theme to your website,
Click the Activate button.
In the left-hand navigation pane,
Go to Appearance
You’ll then see every theme you’ve installed, including the “default” themes that are installed automatically by WordPress.
Find the theme you want to use and click the Activate button:

Whether you choose a free plugin from WordPress.org or a premium plugin from a third-party website, you’ll turn it on the same way.
You can click the Activate button that appears immediately after you install it:
- In the left-hand navigation pane, go to Plugins
- Choose Installed Plugins
- Find your plugin and click Activate

Nobody wants to access a slow website. you click on something and you keep waiting forever to open or respond, this is taken care of by this plugin. WP Rocket is a plugin that caches your pages, decreases file sizes, and does a variety of other things to make your blog load quicker for everyone.
6. Insert Headers and Footers:
To make changes to your theme, you may need to add code snippets to your header or footer (this isn’t as terrible as it sounds). However, putting it in your theme’s code might cause problems. This plugin allows you to simply add tiny snippets of code to certain spots on your site.

Remember I said that you need to have most of the things at your fingertips and try to do things yourself?
I mean this as serious as you should. As a beginner, you need to learn. It saves you a lot of money.
I made the heading as basic for a purpose so you need to know them all because it is helpful to have a basic grasp of how WordPress works to customize the aesthetic design of your site.
The default settings for a blog post are normally not set to SEO friendly.
You have to make some of these changes to help you rank better in the search engines, one of the changes you need to do is permalinks. This is a link to every post on your site.
In your WordPress dashboard, go over to:
Navigate to General > Permalinks to make changes to whatever is there to Post name.

Default URLs Changes
The usual URL address of a website begins with ‘www’. thus www.yourblogname.com.
This address format has become an option to choose either to add ‘www‘ in front of your blog name or keep your blog name without the ‘www.
Even though this addition or no addition does not affect your website, it adds some form of authenticity to the website if it begins with ‘www‘ blogname.com
You can choose to leave it as the default.
In case you still want to add this authenticity to your site this is how to change it.
Some of these changes are done at the panel of your hosting service if you try the method below and it doesn’t work you may have to do that changes at the hosting service cpanel.
From your WordPress dashboard:

Add www at WordPress address(URL)
Add www to Site Address(URL)
Click save changes.
This will automatically log you out and ask you to log in to WordPress admin again.
It will take a couple of minutes before it will take effect so allow some 20 minutes for the hosting server to do the changes.
You can switch back to anytime you want.

Be clear about who your audience is, the value you provide for them, and why you decided to establish a blog for them.

What’s next for your readers?
The final (and most likely most significant) section of your About page is also the one that most people overlook. Advise your readers on what they should do next!

Why should you abandon someone who has made it all the way to the bottom of your page?
Someone who has made it to the About page of your site, they have most likely just met you. That is, you don’t want to ask for anything too time-consuming, such as signing up for a newsletter or following me on social media.
Instead, let them get to know you better so that they can do it on their own. As a result, give them Call-to-Action (CTA) to redirect them to another relevant post on your site.
Another forgotten page that you should have as soon as you start a blog is an easy way for readers to contact you.

After all the consideration above make sure you write your article as freely as you can. Communicate to your audience in very simple but plain English.
Avoid using jargon that makes you sound like you are copying or trying to be someone else.

Good rich content should be a minimum of 1000 words as I said before.
After addressing all the topics that need to be covered in the article, then you are ok to post.
Before you hit the publish button, make sure you read your post. Make sure a second person reads it before you publish and allow it to go live.
Step 8: Set up Tracking
After you publish your article you need to allow search engines to find your blog.
The fact that you have published your website to go live does not mean the search engines will automatically see or locate your website.
You need to register your blog with search engines. This will let the search engine scan your website periodically for any changes and also index your website content so that it will recommend if it deems it fit to do so.
Make Sure Google Can Find Your Website
To guarantee that search engines like Google and Bing can locate your blog, uncheck the following boxes:
Go to Settings in the left-hand navigation pane of your WordPress dashboard.
