First of all, you can use Google free tool to run the speed test. 

Google’s PageSpeed Insights

The first tool I will discuss is Google PageSpeed Insights. Because most people optimize their sites for Google. It’s pretty simple, and the outcome may be obtained in seconds.

  1. Go to Google PageSpeed Insights
  2. Input your website URL
  3. Click on Analyze

My website is doing 92%, which is very good on mobile and 100% on desktop.

The issue with this test is that a lot goes into having 100% on mobile. 

  • The theme

Step 2: Minimize HTTP Requests

HTTP request basically means the number of files that a client device (visitor to your website) needs to download from your website before they can view anything on your website. These files include;

  • The font on your site
  • Images, and videos
  • Number of content
  • size of content
  • Theme and plugins, etc

According to Yahoo, the majority of the time it takes for a Web page to load is spent downloading the various components of the page, such as graphics, stylesheets, and scripts.

Each of these items requires an HTTP request, which means that the greater the number of on-page components, the longer it will take for the website to render.

All you need to do is install the plugin and configure the parameters to your liking. Select the appropriate compression level, specify the image size, then click the button when you’re ready for the plugin to begin the optimization process.

Step 8: Enable Browser Caching

This option works only when a visitor comes to your site. Some standard files will be saved on the visitor’s browser so that the next time they decide to visit the computer will not load all files from scratch again.

Install the WordPress plugin below to enable you to have this option on your website

After installing any of the above plugins, just explorer the setting and enable your browser caching

When someone shows an image from your site directly via its weblink, this is called hotlinking. They get to use the image on their website and attribute it to yours. Each time the page loads, the photo is taken from the originating website’s server.

This act is considered illegal, but people do this for a reason, Backlinking. One thing is that SEO sees hotlink as a vote from the original website. In that case, your website is voting for the website for using your image.

If you stop hotlinking, you stop people from copying(stealing) your images from your website. This saves the bandwidth released to you from your web hosting. Imagine using shared hosting. You are already sharing the resources with others, and you share the little given you with an unknown computer somewhere.

There are several ways to prevent hotlinking:

  • Use CDN: you can configure your CDNs to protect hotlinking. CDN like Cloudflare and KeyCDN already have hotlinking protection turned on.
  • Use All In One WP Security & Firewall: A security plugin lets you have control over hotlinking.

You will need to host your videos on YouTube and link them to your content. When visitors opt to watch videos, they will be loaded and played from youtube, not from your site.


Youtube comes to mind when most people think of the online video, and for a good reason. In addition to having a user base of over 1.5 million people who watch about 5 billion videos per day, it is also one of the most well-known websites in the world.

In other words, it has more monthly users than every other major social media network, except Facebook.

Additionally, it is absolutely free to use.
