To be successful with your blog, you must set realistic goals that are measurable and can be achieved in a reasonable amount of time.
Whether you want to increase your blog’s traffic or generate more income from it, or you want to make the transition from part-time blogging to full-time blogging, setting realistic goals is essential.
Before I started this blog, the sole person with whom I discussed the concept warned me that it would be impossible to make it work. He is well aware that I am a delinquent when it comes to setting precise goals and attaining them. That’s my story anyway.

It all boils down to knowing where you want to go.
You want to have a very clear plan of action, and your blogging goals are the final destination that you want to reach, and how you get there will be determined by the actions you do along the way to reaching your goals.

The answer to these goals may be vague. Instead of saying vague things like “I’d like to earn more money from my blog” or “I’d like to increase my traffic,” focus on specific goals such as “I’d like to earn $1,000 per month from my blog” or “I’d like to reach 10,000 monthly readers within the next six months.”
It’s critical that when you set these goals for yourself, you consider what you actually want to accomplish.
Consider what others claim they want to accomplish with their blog and what you want.

However, at this level, it’s extremely beneficial to reduce your goals down into much smaller specific increments that are easier to track on a daily or weekly basis, which will help your goals feel more genuine and reachable.
Something toward which you can strive each and every day.
Consider the income target.
Assume you want to generate $20,000 from your blog in the first year.
Let’s break that down into months, weeks, and even days to get a sense of what you can accomplish today.
To get closer to that $20,000 goal, it means you need to make $1666 per month or approximately $55.6 every day. Keep in mind that your blog may not earn anything right now or may earn only $5 per day, but by the end of the year, your site may earn more than 200 dollars per day, so it’s acceptable to make up for those gaps as your site grows over time. Your site growth should be in progression.
Something to keep in mind about blogging is that you’re going to gain momentum as you go; getting from zero to five thousand readers will be more difficult than getting from ten thousand to twenty-five thousand.
Your momentum will breed more momentum; that is simply how it wor. As time passes, you will reap the rewards and continue to meet your activity goals, such as posting blog articles and working diligently to promote your content and bring more people to your site.

You’re going to need to invest the time necessary to build a foundation of the audience to begin profiting and then driving additional people back to your blog.
However, you can be confident that your work now will pay off in the months and years ahead.
You are unlikely to rank number one in Google search results for a post you wrote yesterday. You are unlikely to gain a million social media followers in the next few weeks. You are unlikely to draw thousands of individuals to your email list in a few months. Either of these things takes time for most individuals, and setting unreasonable goals is the quickest way to abandon your blog and throw in the towel entirely.
Therefore, how can you determine whether the goals are attainable and realistic?
To be honest, the answer will vary according to the blogger.

This is how you will stay on track with building your blog and see where you are making progress and where you need to pick up some slack. Consider it this way. If you handle your blog as a legitimate business, just as you would if you had a job, you would have deadlines, correct? You would need to publish a blog post by Friday at 4:30 p.m. to avoid missing the deadline.
When you leave for the weekend, you must exercise self-discipline to succeed as a blogger, and I encourage you to create real-world deadlines for this kind of activity on your calendar.
Goals that ladder up to your more significant goals, such as setting a weekly or biweekly deadline for posting a blog article on your site, are a particularly good approach to inspire.
That dedication to accomplishing your greater objectives is the only destination. Smart practices are how you will arrive.
For example, you know that you must complete and promote content to create a blog, but are you allocating time to work on your site, guest post, or market your content on social media or other online forums to attract readers? But do you carve that time out of your day or cram it in occasionally?
It’s acceptable if your life and the amount of time you can devote to your blog will have seasonality, but be nice to yourself; it’s not reasonable to expect that you can show up every day for a certain number of hours some type of robot.

This is no joke, SMART goals cannot be achieved without the use of smart behaviors. You may desire 10000 monthly visitors to your site, but how are you going to achieve that goal? While goals are wonderful, how can you actually accomplish them?
While goals serve as the destination, SMART habits serve as the conveyor that transports you there.
For instance, you are aware that you must generate and promote content to attract visitors.
However, are you setting aside time to do this on purpose? Are you scheduling your week in such a way that you know you’ll have time to work on your blog, or are you squeezing it into your already-overwhelming schedule?
If you are not physically devoting at least a few hours per week to your blog, you will not see the results you desire.
You may experience intermittent success, but you will not achieve the level of sustained success required to work as a full-time blogger.
If you commit to using the smart habit for six months to a year, you will notice significant improvement and progress. Consistently implementing these wise behaviors will result in a significant rise in readers, subscribers, and income.
