How Much Does it Cost to Start Blogging?

Starting a blog is cheap very cheap these days but also much more costly. Anyone can accomplish it, regardless of bankroll. I started this blog with $35 in 2021

Starting a blog costs simply two things:

Domain name: $10/year.
$5/month for web hosting

In all, a little over $35 should get you a Domain name registration and web hosting for at least 1 year.

However, starting a blog becomes expensive when you want to do everything with paid and premium tools and services.
Other goods can be bought early on. Logos, website layouts/themes, and other tools make running the website easier but it’s optional.

I started this blog with no premium tool.

I made sure I do everything all by myself. from logo to website design. Everything is online, search, learn and apply.

How to Become a Blogger in 2022

Starting a blog in the year 2008 is not the same as starting a blog in 2022. This year 2022, the process is faster and more efficient but much more complicated and competitive. You can now create a website within 15 minutes and start to write to your own blog.

This is actually why people think blogging is cheap and easy and so they don’t pay attention to the problems bloggers face before they start a blog, and so, they end up quitting when it gets to the mud.

You can start a blog in 5 easy steps:

1. Find the Perfect Niche

When creating a blog, you must choose a niche. Choosing the proper niche might help you gain readers and grow your site.

Niche?

Yes. It refers to the topic you will be writing about on your blog.

When blogging, you focus on a niche. It can be a topic you’re enthusiastic about or a target audience.

It’s your blog’s principal theme or topic. Gardening, blogging, vegetarian recipes, etc.

Choose a blog niche carefully. Consider your interests and passions. This will give you blog post ideas and make writing more fun. Because blogging is about providing information that solves problems and meets needs.

Lastly, identify a competitive niche. There are many blogs, so choose an area where you can stand out.

2. Launch Your Site

Launching a blog may be fun and lucrative if done correctly.

First, choose a domain. Your blog’s web address should be easy to remember and reflect its topic or niche. BlueHost and DreamHost let you buy domain names and web hosting at the same time.

Buy web hosting next. Choose a trusted hosting company to store your blog’s data. Bluehost, Dreamhost Hosting, and Hostinger are amazing.

Third, put up a WordPress website. Open source website builder WordPress.org. After getting site hosting, it’s free to install. I recommend it.

After these three steps, you may start posting to your blog.

3. Create Helpful Content For Your Target Audience

When you start a blog, it’s easy to focus on your personal needs. After all, you’ll be reading it. Putting your viewers first and writing material that solves their problems and meets their wants can help your blog succeed.

What’s the sense of reading a blog if all the postings are self-promotional?

That’s boring. If your blog’s material isn’t valuable, nobody will stick around.

Once you know, you can write pieces that offer solutions. You can make difference in their lives.

Your blog material should be valuable and intriguing. No one wants to read a dry, dull article; liven it up! This will keep readers interested.

To make your blog successful, write useful and intriguing content. They’ll appreciate it.

4. Explore Your Monetization Options

You’ve decided on a niche, started a blog, and written a lot of great blog posts. The next step is to find ways to make money off of your blog and all the good content on it.

How can you make the most money from your blog?

I want to tell you about four ways to make money from your blog. Even though there are other ways, you should focus on the four I’m going to tell you about.

  1. Affiliate marketing is a great way to start out.
  2. Display ads can make you a lot of money if you have tens of thousands of visitors a month.
  3. You can teach just about anything in an online course.
  4. Info products are a great way to start selling your own products.

So, you might ask, what are these ways to make money?

Let me explain:

Affiliate marketing is a great way to make money from your blog because you can get a cut of every sale you send a company’s way. Sign up for an affiliate program and make links to the products or services you want to promote to get started with affiliate marketing.

If someone clicks on your link and then buys something, you’ll get a cut of the sale.

Display ads are another way that many blogs make money. Most of the time, these ads are small banner ads or text ads that an advertising network puts on your website. The more people visit your site, the more money you make.

Another great way to make money from your blog is to offer online courses. You can make these courses yourself, and they can be about anything. When your course is done, you can sell it on your website or through a marketplace for online courses.

Another popular way to make money from a blog is to sell information products. These products can be anything from audio recordings to e-books. To make an info product, you’ll need a topic, some content, and a package that you can sell on your website or through an online marketplace. The process is very similar to making online courses.

How I start my blog and the Lessons you should learn

I was working with a company as a Tech Support. I have heard about blogging from other friends I meet online and how you can use it to make money. I was comfortable with my work and how much it pays me so I never take any chances to learn how and what goes in running a blog.

In early 2020, Pandemic, the company I was working with was taken over by another company and decided to reduce the workforce.

My whole department got dissolved and I had to look for a job, in the middle of the pandemic lockdown.

I had few connections and after several tries to get a job, I couldn’t get one.

I always find myself home surfing the internet and reading and watching stuff.

Then a friend called me one night to help him edit an article he wrote for a website.

After I had done that, I decided to try setting up a blog on a free platform. I searched for how to start a blog and how to create a website.

It took me 62 days to finally have a website online running with a few blog posts.

I didn’t know everything until I started the blog. I read, learn and apply them to my blog.

How to do keyword research and how to speed up your website, how to set goals, and how to build an email list.

How to convert email subscribers to customers. How to build backlinks and all that.

I took my time to learn these from other blogs and start to apply them.

My blog started to receive reactions from search engines and traffic from social media as well.

This encourages me to keep going and helps people to know how to start a blog even in 2022.

A lot of people think it’s not possible to break out from the noise but I did it.

Blogging is hard when you are writing something you know nothing about.

If you are very interested in your niche, blogging is very easy.

You don’t struggle to find keywords to create a post.

Here are a few things I would love to share with you if you want to start a blog in 2022

Obtain as much information as possible

When I first began blogging in 2020, the only thing I understood about how people were making money online was that they did it by producing content on websites and blogs.

They call it Affiliate marketing. Because I read an article in which a guy claimed that he was making $10,000 a week by promoting other people’s businesses and gaining free traffic from Google, I impulsively dove headfirst into the world of blogging.

I had no idea what I was doing.

When I walked in, my expectation was that I would be able to make quick cash with a minimum of work.

But after approximately six months, it was evident that I was making zero dollars because all I had done was put up a simple website and write around six or seven articles on topics that were scarcely relevant to the area I had chosen.

These articles were embarrassingly terrible.

When I first started looking for a community to help me with affiliate marketing, I came across Wealthy Affiliate, and it was there that I found some structure on my website. I also found experts like Ryan Robinson and Adam Enfroy‘s blogs.

And in the end, I witnessed my website receive thousands of visitors while simultaneously earning a little dollars.

I had no idea that there was such a comprehensive process involved in getting your content listed in Google’s search results before that.

You need to read wide if you want to do this and succeed. These days everything is online for free. all need to search them.

Stop believing the so-called Gurus playing gimmicks online selling kinds of stuff that can make money within 7 days.

I was under the impression for a very long time that all you needed to do to get Google to send you some free traffic was make a blog post on your website.

The lesson to be learned from this:

You are going to require significant assistance when you first begin. Building a successful business around blogging requires a lot of hard work and dedication. You will need to educate yourself on the most effective strategies and tactics.

I’d suggest you:

Find a community of other bloggers to interact with. This community may be a paid one, in which case it would provide training, mentoring, and other premium resources; alternatively, it could be a free community, such as one found on Facebook or Reddit.

Find free training on the internet by searching for free training videos on YouTube or by looking for blogs similar to this one. Many people are willing to share premium information with others at no cost.

What you put in is what you get.

My advice to you is to focus on your writing. make sure you have a lot of blog posts on your blog. Dont start the promotion of your blog at the very beginning of your site. Get some topics covered.

Make sure you have a lot of good blog posts on your site so you can internally link them. This helps readers to explore your site and not just come and read one article and go away.

My blog started to receive traffic organically after I had about 50 blog posts on my site. I decided to get 70 blog posts on my site before I start to promote them.

Somewhere along the line when I got 40 articles, some of my articles started to rank on google.

I targeted low keywords with low competition at the very beginning. there are some keywords that have literally no search but I still write and link them to high search low competition keywords.

Remember, Google has this thing where you kind of have to earn their trust before they will reward you with a high rating in their search results. People often refer to it as the sandbox on Google.

You will not receive any ranks while you are playing in the sandbox. It is possible that the search won’t even show you on any page at all.

Getting out of the sandbox will normally take a few months of hard work. On the other hand, there are ways to completely sidestep it. Therefore, bear that in mind.

The Primary Focus Should Be on Producing High-Quality Content

There are a lot of moving parts that go into making a blog successful. On the other hand, while you’re just getting started, the majority of things can wait. like I said before, focus on getting a blog post on your site.

I have seen people monetizing their blogs with just 7 blog posts. What happens to these blogs is they flip (sell the site) in no time. They don’t care about what happens afterward.

If you want to build a reputation, great business, and build a relationship with your audience, I advise you get more blog posts before you get into promotion.

One negative signal you will send out there if your blog contains a few blog posts is that, people will not trust you. They will know you are doing shoddy work.

When I first started my blog, I would frequently waste a lot of time on activities that weren’t particularly significant.

Take, for instance:

I became engrossed in the layout of the website. I spent a lot of time looking for the ideal layout and trying out a variety of color schemes to find something that was appealing to the eye. (website design)

When considered in retrospect, this was time poorly spent. The wasted weeks may have been used to produce additional content for this website.

The content itself is the most vital component. It’s how we bring in new visitors and how we interact with the ones we already have.

Don’t get me wrong. The design of a website is essential. However, the appearance of your website does not have to be elaborate.

The human visual system responds favorably to designs that are uncluttered, straightforward, and feature a lot of white space in addition to standard letter sizes.

Therefore, when you start your own blog, you should place an emphasis on the content.

I decided to create this blog to help people realize what they are up against before they make a step in creating a website for a blog.

I try to incorporate my personal experience into this blog.

I learn and apply a technique and if it works, I apply them to other clients’ sites to make sure it works for all before I show them here.

All my tutorials are kind of personal experiences.

It’s worth it to start a blog, I will recommend you to take a bold step.
